Retail heavy-weight Zara will be joining the tenancy mix at Karrinyup as part of AMP’s $800 million development of the Centre. The addition of Zara is indicative of the fashion facelift that AMP is seeking to achieve at the Perth centre. The news of Zara’s signing comes shortly after its parent company, Inditex, announcing that it will be closing 12,000 stores globally as a result of the COVID19 pandemic. Arguably, the commitment to a new development site is reflective of Australia’s pandemic response and strong economic outlook, comparatively.
The Karrinyup store design will reflect the retail giants new concept, which will be an Australian first. At Liberty Leasing, we understand this to mean that there will be an online / in-store integration. This will likely include automated click & collect points which are facilitate by QR codes and self-checkouts.
Zara, along with an additional 290 retailers forming part of the centre development, will open in Q4 of 2021.
